New driver-rest rules

As of 11.04.07, new rules for the amount of rest a driver must have been implemented.

The rest requirements have been extended and this will have an effect on our transit times. Violation of these rules result in very large fines, so of course all drivers and hauliers must follow these regulations.

We ask for your understanding if there may be slightly longer transit times.

The new rules:

• Non-stop driving: 4,5 hours
• Daily driving time: 9 hours (10 hours twice a week)
• Weekly driving time: 56 hours (90 hours over 2 weeks)
• Rest after 4,5 hours driving: 45 minutes (possibility to split it into 2 breaks of 30 and 15 minutes)
• Daily rest time: 11 hours or 12 hours if the rest period is split into 9 and 3 hours. (Daily rest time of 9 hours is allowed 3 times a week)
• Weekly rest time, after 6 days driving: 45 hours (or 24 hours, if the reduction is compensated within 3 weeks).
