Truck Blockades in Denmark
05.11.07
Last weekend (3/4.11.07), some Danish hauliers have chosen to establish road blocks at some harbors, borders, and other important points for road traffic in Denmark. This is due to a great dissatisfaction with the current laws surrounding rest periods for the drivers, and the very large fines for even small infractions.
As these road blocks seem to be without any central management, it is difficult to say how long this will last, and where it will happen. For this reason we encourage everyone to monitor the situation in the media, and of course, we will also be keeping a close watch on the situation, and any delays that may come as a result of this.
UPDATE - 06.11.07
It now seems the blockades are more or less finished, and they will not pose a problem any more. Of course, we cannot be sure that they will not happen again at some time, but for now the situation seems to have passed.
